I haven't really titled this one yet, but this is my latest oil painting. It is much brighter in person! Oil on Masonite board.
This week really flew by for me. I did get a lot of crafting done--I have my first craft show on November 6. I still have to make up some jewelry. What I showed previously, I plan to sent to the show in Connecticut.
This weekend is Parent's Weekend at our daughters college so, or course, I made her a little decoration. It's baking right now, so I'll show it to you next time. This past Tuesday was her 18th birthday, so after art class tomorrow, I will bake some birthday/Halloween cupcakes to take up with us. She already got her present in the mail at school--a Pentax SLR camera plus a kit with lenses, filters, tripods, etc. . . Aren't we great parents? I also have a small surprise for her just so she has something to unwrap!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. The weather forecast is for beautiful, seasonal weather, sunny and in the 50s. Maybe I'll take my camera along, too!

Last weekend for my free shipping sale!

A pendant for me!

A short time ago, I was lucky enough to be the 700th sale at Beadwright's Etsy Store. She promised her 700th customer something extra special. Knowing Nicole from past purchases and now as a cyber friend, I knew I was going to be very happy with my surprise, and I was right! She gifted me with one of her lovely (and well put together I might add) kits to make a beaded brooch! Inside was just about everything you need to create a beautiful piece of jewelry, including a gorgeous glass cabochon make by Lori of Out of the Flames. The instruction were well written and illustrated and the supplies included were very generous. I do have a little experience beading--but I learned a few techniques I did not know, and I believe this could be done by a beginner.

Without further ado, here is my finished piece:

Now I did take a bit of artistic license & I turned it into a pendant. I plan to wear it to a family function at the end of this month. I know it will be oohed and ahhed over, but I am not giving it up!

Here is the latest ACEO in my new series, "Moose on Parade". This one is called "Cammo Moose" It measures the standard size of 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".

Cammo Moose is trying to hide & is doing a pretty good job! He was created with heat--no paint involved & then applied to 140 lb. watercolor paper that has been painted with acrylic paint.

The ACEO will come signed, titled & dated on the back. It will arrive in a card protector. All of my ACEOs are originals.

What is an ACEO? If you know what they are, they are completely addictive to make and to own! For those not familiar with them, ACEO stands for artist cards, editions and originals. They are small works of art in any media, the only criteria being they measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".

Don't forget, I am having a free shipping sale in my Etsy shop for the month of October!

We all had a wonderful weekend together, and as this message posts, we are on the way to return our daughter to college! Show & Tell

Just a little show & tell today. I am working hard to get ready for 3 craft shows. As most of you know, it was a busy time getting our daughter ready & moved into college, and I am now beading & crafting feverishly (well, really hard anyway) to be ready. Here are some of the necklaces & brooches I have made for a show in Connecticut. The glass pieces were made by Linda of papernclay on Etsy.
I love the teal one on the left & will find it very hard to part with! Well, back to beading! Hope you all have a happy, productive day!

Don't forget to enter my first giveaway here. Second giveaway coming up on Friday!

Happy October & Giveaway #1

Happy October! This is my favorite month of the year. The leaves are beginning to change color, the mornings and evenings are cool & crisp, and the days are still warm. I love the smells from my warm toasty kitchen as I bake apple pies, apple crisps and make applesauce. It also happens to be the month in which I was born. My birthday was Saturday, and my husband & I spent a wonderful day enjoying the nice weather and each other. We went out to dinner for all you can eat shrimp at Red Lobster (a seafood chain restaurant for anyone not familiar with it).

I have been so blessed lately with the generosity of blog friends--it is my turn now. I am going to offer several giveaways and specials associated with my Etsy shop. To begin with...

I am offering free shipping in my Etsy Shop for the whole month of October. I have already adjusted the shipping costs to zero, so the listings are ready to go. I will be starting to list my holiday french beaded flowers soon!

Here is how the giveaways will work:
You may enter one or all of the giveaways by making one comment on their individual post. If you would like to blog about the giveaway, leave a separate comment with the link for one additional chance.

The giveaways are open to everyone. Please make sure if you do not have a blog that I have a way to get in touch with you. The winner will be drawn on the date stated in each individual post by the random number generator.

Giveaway #1
A Halloween themed giveaway! This necklace is an original, one-of-a-kind piece. I created the inserts out of polymer clay. They sort of happened by accident--I could certainly never repeat these exact designs. Can you see the bat in the top piece? They have been beaded (with some techniques I learned from a flatwork book recently purchased from Beadwright), backed with leather and strung on an orange ribbon necklace.
The piece measures approximately 3 1/2" long including the bail & the necklace is adjustable from 16"-18".
The winner for this necklace will be drawn on October 15, 2010. Good Luck!

Feeling like I won the lottery!

I recently won a giveaway from Lone at Flowermouse Design. The giveaway was for one of adorable mice in my most favorite color, purple! If you are not familiar with Lone or her mice, take a look at this link and see the talent this artist posesses with polymer clay! I won the most adorable purple striped mouse on his own bouncy purple chain with a silver mouse charm.
When the package arrived, I was teary eyed at the other thoughtful gifts that Lone included. How could any "craftymoose" not be thrilled to get a package of moose napkins? I will have to come up with a special project to use some of these. She also sent along a booklet on the area where she lives in Norway and a keychain. I love to travel and also to paint pictures of places we have been. I know this booklet will be inspiration to help me paint remembrances of trip to Norway.
From the handmade paper card & envelope, to the individually wrapped gifts, down to the Norway flag ribbon, the package made me feel like I had won the lottery. Thank you so much, Lone, from the bottom of my heart!
Have a great weekend everyone! Stop by next week when I am planning a month's worth of specials for my my birthday month!
