I'm on Indie Smiles!

Thanks to an article or rather a slide show created by LindaGJ, my sea horse sun catcher was featured on Indie Smiles. If you are not familiar with Indie Smiles, here is a link:

They interview and feature Indie shops from Etsy, Artfire, Zibbet, & Folksy as well as those with no particular affiliation. Besides being a contributing author to Indie Smiles, Linda has a beautiful Etsy shop where she sells her delightful mixed media sculptures. This cutie is one of my favorites:

I hope you will stop by Indie Smiles and see Linda's slide show and take a look at her fabulous shop, too!

I am back!

Hi Everyone! I am back from my vacation and cannot wait to share my travelogue with you. As soon as I recover totally from the jet lag, different food & water and the cameras are sorted out...I'll be back.

The spammers have been out in full force while I was away & one of these unsavory bunch became a follower of my blog. The situation has been dealt with.

A little blog break!

As I often do this time of year...I'm taking a little blog break. I will return near the end of July, hopefully with some great photos of what I have been doing. In the meantime, I leave you three friends to keep you company!

One good thing about heat & humidity...

is I am finding lots of time to craft! I feel happy & energized and even got up early this morning to take a 2 1/2 mile walk around the lake. I wish I had brought my camera because I saw a great shot of one of our resident cranes and two beautiful white swans swimming together side by side. Oh well, maybe next time.

So in looking over the orange lilies from yesterday...I decided to add another row of leaves to each stem. They look better to me now--fills out the vase a little more, don't you think?

Now I think they are ready to list for sale.

I've got a good start on my next "inspired by nature" project which will have something to do with Hydrangea. I am not sure if it is because of the hot then cool temperatures we experienced earlier in May & June, but everything is blooming in full force. Our Hydrangea bush has at least 25 blooms & is about 6 feet wide! I can't seem to capture the brilliant blues & purples of this one bush probably because it is in the shade a good part of the day, but I will show it when my project is finished.

Hope you are all keeping cool and having a creative day!

Inspired by Nature's Paintbrush

I love color--especially intense color! Oh, sure, there is a place for pastels and soft colors, in a Wedding Bouquet or Spring corsage for example. For me though, nothing beats the bright vivid colors of Summer as painted by Nature.

Every year our back yard is dotted with these gorgeous oranges lilies. Despite something (someone) shearing off the top of one of my plants...I still had a profusion of orange color! Unfortunately, they do not last forever...but I assure you my version will! This latest bouquet will be in my Etsy shop tonight!

Have a wonderful day!

Today is an absolutely gorgeous, breezy, cool day here. Under a cloudless blue sky, my husband & I enjoyed a 3 mile walk around the lake this morning. This afternoon the sky is filled with large puffy clouds. I could enjoy a summer day like this forever....However, it was marred by the wasp who took it upon himself or herself to sting me. Ouch does this hurt! I went outside to throw a couple of salmon burgers on the grill for lunch & on my way back into the house I felt a pinch on my inner forearm-yes the part that leans against your body when you are typing, crafting, or doing almost anything! Since I was near the front door & the wasp flew that way, I did let it out although I must admit I wanted to squash it. I do have a slightly sadistic nature towards things that get in the house, especially if they bite me.

We are looking forward to another beautiful day tomorrow before the heat & humidity return. Going flea marketing tomorrow--though it is mostly new items--I just love to walk around.

Have a wonderful weekend and a Happy 4th of July!
