T Stands For Tuesday

Hi Everyone!  Thanks for joining me today with my healthy glass of water, a visit with the T Stands For Tuesday gang, and some art to share.
I took this photo of my avocado this morning. It seems to be doing well, but it has not really grown much in the last couple of weeks.  Somehow, I thought after I planted it, it would grow faster. I have much more patience with my slow-growing cacti than I do with this pit, but as long as it keeps going.......

It is no secret that I am not a paper artist, mixed media artist, I don't scrapbook, or otherwise design with paper.  I don't know how to collage and make it look good. I tend to overthink everything paper to the point where it takes me a ridiculously long time to complete a project. So I was thrilled when Diane posted a tutorial on how she makes her collages. She really inspired me to give it a try--I am good at step by step! So after reading her tutorial several times, I set out to try to make one of my own.

Basically, I like my result but I think it looks a little bottom heavy...what do you think? Does it flow or do your eyes just drop down and stay there?
I tried not to overdo the pen work,
and tried to repeat some of the shapes.

I really appreciate the tutorial, Diane, and am inspired enough to try it again sometime!

I'm off for my daily 3 mile walk and will visit everyone a little later on today!

Your avocado looks really healthy Debbie...I bet it's working on establishing strong roots in its new home in the dirt.
I do believe you can add paper artist to your repertoire!
Your collage is beautiful and strong.
The colors are wonderful and draw me in.
It looks very well balanced to me and your doodles are a perfect addition.
Happy T Day oxo

I like the collage. I think the positioning of the blue parts makes your eye travel around. That is a good thing in my opinion.

Your plant looks good so far. It is hard to be patient with the slow-growing ones, isn't it!

I'm checking out that tutorial. I love collage, but just when I think I have not done enough, I do too much lol

Exciting to see how your avocado plant will be!!! I really love your collage and do not find it bottom heavy. In fact the color work and the way you put it all together made it harmonic to look at.

I am mucho impressed with your collage Debbie! I too struggle to make a decent collage, so I think I will check out the tute as well. Happy T Day :D

fabulous page!! It has a nice flow and I think it's well balanced because although you may have more at the bottom the larger size and different color of the bird at the top brings your eye around. I had so much fun using Dianne's tutorial to represent my beach vaycay! Happy T day!

I'm no art critic, but I am going to tell you like I see it. My eye started in the upper left and was led to the lower right. What I personally believe makes you "think" it looks bottom heavy is the bird where your eye begins. Had the bird been darker or brighter, you would not have felt the collage was bottom heavy. I personally think it's a wonderful collage, and I'm sure that Dianne will be quite pleased to see how well you followed her instructions. This was quite impressive.

I'm with Patty about the roots taking hold and growing stronger in the new dirt. It can't grow in both places at the same time. Example is burning a candle at both ends.

Thanks for sharing your transplanted avocado, your water, and your amazing collage with us for T this Tuesday.

Great collage. Yes the eye is lead round the page starting at the bird.
Thanks for pointing out the tutorial. I immediately went to have a look.
Have a good week,

I know nothing about growing avocados. Looks good to me. ;)
I think you did great with your collaged mixed media piece. I haven't done much of it, either. Collage--maybe a couple times--no idea what I'm doing. I think yours looks great! I like the balance of the page, myself. Nice!
Happy T-Day!! :)

Debbie the avocado is probably busy growing roots since you put it in dirt... I wouldn't worry about it... Plus its going to grow more in the spring and slow down over the fall and winter...

You worry waaaay too much about your journal page... Do you like it? Does it make you happy? I think its beautiful without a flaw to be found.... Happy happy Tday my friend. Hugs! deb

I don't think that your collage looks bottom-heavy. I think it has a good diagonal flow to it. It looks like you had fun making this collage, too.

Happy T Day!

Hello and happy T Day! I love that you did some collaging, good for you!! I think it came out great, it's not bottom heavy and it's so pretty. Hope you will do more, I always want to collage more but overthink it. I just had a nice walk this morning too. Have a good week.

Wow Debbie, you've done brilliantly! so glad you liked the tutorial, and no I don't think your eyes just drop to the bottom of the page and stop. the purple 'swoop' on the left brings my eye back up the page...and continues around to the purple on the right. You've repeated flower and leaf shapes, curves etc. It works together to keep your eye moving... and lovely colors too! Great work! happy T day a bit late... ♥

Belated T-day wishes my friend, sorry it has taken me a bit longer to return the visit.

BRAVO!!!! that is a fantastic collage Debbie!! Who would have known it was your first. Dianne had a great post, I'm glad you jumped in and gave it a try.....must warn you......it is addicting.....LOL

I should be out walking, or heading to the gym, but I went a little hard on the treadmill yesterday and my foot is paying for it today. Since the weather has cooled down to the 80s (cool from 105) I will take a short walk a little later. Thanks for your support in my endeavor to get back into some kind of shape!!
