Tea Tuesday Texture Art

Happy Tea Tuesday!  Today I have some art to show with texture, but first I wanted to give you an idea of how cold our nights have been:
Yes, that is my Christmas Cactus already starting to bloom!  Last night it went down to 35 degrees ( that's 1 degree celsius!) Is it any wonder that I keep my still tender, young and small cacti that I started from seeds covered in plastic wrap?  I hope they make it through the winter.  Now for the tea and texture:

I'm almost embarrassed to show tea in my everyday cup with the stains that I have only barely tried to remove.  But, let's move on to the art....
I used some metal sheet that I drew on with a stylus. I layered on top an acrylic abstract landscape, a clear window and butterfly.  The butterfly can't decide if it wanted in or out!  Here is a better photo:
Thanks for stopping by today.  If you would like to see what everyone else is up to, please visit Elizabeth and Bleubeard's Tea Tuesday post here.

Your textured art is fabulous. I love how you took us through the process. That's one magic (and slightly confused) butterfly.

I had a Christmas cactus at one time, but like most of my plants, it died the year I put it outside too soon and we had a freak hard freeze in May.

I have this HUGE mug with a lid I use all the time, especially when I'm in my craft room. I also take it when I travel. I figure no one would want to steal such an ugly and discolored thing. So I can relate to your cup!! Too cute.

Thanks for joining T today. You might even win a prize for the saddest mug (grin).

My Christmas cactuses are just about to flower too! I brought them back from a firends as just a leaf each and found them in my handbag when they had put out little roots! It has taken about 3 years for them to flower, so I hope I get to see them, although I may not be here on Christmas Day!

Our Christmas cactus lives outdoors year round - obviously we don't have your cold temps.

Great art piece, I've been wanting to try that metal foil embossing for ages.

Yes Christmas cactus love the cold! Kept mine on a north facing patio when I lived in Colorado and it bloomed like crazy! Love your butterfly art work. Enjoy your tea, don't worry about the mug. It's well used and loved. :)

Lovely little cactus. I like how the teacup and art mimic each other with swirls.

Your butterfly art looks so pretty and summer-y. I hope you can stay warm during this cold weather, which is quite the opposite of summer-y. Happy T Day!
