Artist's Play Room-Rainbows

" Beauty vanishes; virtue is lasting."--Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I love rainbows...seeing them and using them in art, so I was thrilled when the APR theme this week was rainbows or creating with lots of color.

Having come across some large crystals awhile ago, I decided to put together a rainbow sun catcher.

It has been raining all week, so I could not hang it in the sun yet to try it out. I did notice that it seems to be coated with something that in light makes the crystal look blue or golden. Not sure yet if it will affect its rainbow making capabilities.

Inspiration Avenue suspended the challenge this week to announce a postcard swap. I joined up even though I've never made a postcard. You can click on the button on my sidebar for more information. There are still a few days to sign up if you are interested.

Have a happy, creative weekend!

Your crystal almost looks like a lemon slice, pretty. Hope you get lots of rainbow light when the sun appears again. I was going to do the postcard swap, but I don't feel up to making 5, 1 or 2 I could've managed, hope you get lots of swappers to join in.

What a creative idea for the rainbow challenge - a rainbow in your window. I considered the postcard swap but like New End Studio the number stopped me. I don't like making batches of things all at once. Guess I have a short attention span, LOL!

well this is just the best submission yet! I love it.I bet it'll be totally catching the light very soon as Spring gets springier, lol. In beads, I think the coating that makes the bead be different colors is called AB and if it's REALLY different colors it's called AB Rainbow! Hehehe.
Best,

If the crystal does throw rainbows - I might to order some - I have three WWII tank prisms (used in the periscope) in the window of our house to catch morning light and throw rainbows and I want more rainbow throwers and these would be fab.

REASON? I love Pollyanna

What a lovely suncatcher! :) I like rainbows, too. Haven't seen one in quite awhile. It's been rainy here, too - and SO chilly! I do here that it's supposed to be warmer later next week, though. Looking forward to it!

A p/c swap will be fun, I promise! You can make one out of just about anything - the po cares more about size. I've used watercolor paper, a cut up popcorn box (the lightweight cardboard is great!), an ad p/c you receive in the mail just painted or collaged over. You don't have to buy anything!

Love your suncatcher. The rainbow of crystals is such a nice touch...hope you'll remember to post it again when it's hung and making beautiful rainbows! Thanks for the visit.

Thank you for your kind comments. You are such a blessing to me.

I will be having a Mother's Day giveaway this next Friday with glimpses of whats up for grabs all this week. :)

I've missed you SO much and came to see how you were doing. This suncatcher is adorable, and leave it to you to bead something with a rainbow. Not just colorful, but clever, too.

Unlike you, I have made tons of postcards. You know me, I especially like them because they can be from anything recycled. Remember to think FLAT! But unlike you I did not sign up for the swap. Although I think it would be fun, I've often found these types of swaps, the ones with no central hostess, tend to have some who don't come through in the end. I wish you luck.

This turned out great- I really like how you did the beading on the string/wire!
