How Does Your Garden Grow?

I've always loved to garden but in the past dozen or so years have not done much for various reasons...We had too much shade in the backyard and the plants just didn't grow fast enough. We've taken some wonderful vacations that I've blogged about in the past...and you just can't plant and be gone for 2-3 weeks. Things are a bit different this year as we are not planning a marathon vacation (maybe none at all this year), and several years ago we had to remove two diseased trees and now have a lot of sun. So I started some cucumber seeds a month or so ago and have just planted them in the ground. Gosh, turns out to be about 12 feet of cucumber plants! If they all take and produce, I'll be looking for some good recipes, LOL!
The first of our two Azalea bushes has finally flowered--If you follow my blog, then you know I adore this color!
These are a custom order that I completed during the week. They are on their way to South Carolina!
Last but not least...I taught myself a new bead stitch: flat spiral. I consider this a "practice" piece so didn't use my crystal bicones but rather some beads I had in my stash. I'm happy with the way it drapes--feels really good on.

Coming up...a new french beaded cuff bracelet--I'll keep you in suspense about what kind of flower this one will have on it. Until then, have a happy creative weekend; and if you are in the US, Happy Memorial Day--say a prayer for all those who lost their lives for our country. Remember their families, too.

A Blog Award

The Versatile Blogger Award was bestowed on me by the lovely Stacy of MagicLoveCrow. Since there are no rules attached, I will follow Stacy's lead and tell you 3 things about myself.

1)I had a dream when I was a child that my mother told me that I was adopted. It was so real that I believed it for many years despite my parents trying to convince me it was only a dream. My Mom finally gave me the newspaper announcement of my birth which I laminated and carry to this day in my wallet.

2)I was born under the sun sign, Libra. I am a peacemaker, a romantic, love reading books (as opposed to audiobooks or kindle, etc) but am sometimes horribly indecisive.

3)My favorite houseplants are Cacti! I just bought some seeds and am going to try growing them myself. I have one that I did grow from a seed many years ago.

As is my usual custom, I will invite anyone who wants to play along. Leave a post comment so I can visit you too! Thanks Stacy!

Two More Crows...

Since these crows are already flying to their new home, I didn't think Stacy would mind me showing them off. She liked the first crow so much she decided she wanted a girl and a baby to go with it! The baby turned out to be a girl, too, and she has a little hot pink & mint green french beaded flower on her tail.

Thank you everyone for your nice comments on my cuff. I am really excited to continue making these, and I hope they continue to be popular.

Have a wonderful, creative weekend!

My Second Cuff Bracelet

I named this one "Field of Daisies"! Just as I was finishing this up....my first cuff sold!
Three Daisies sit on a field of blue--AKA Nicole's BeadBacking. I love this beading fabric! It comes in a large variety of colors and sizes--just perfect for any project.
Cuff measures 6 1/2" and can gently be reformed if you need it looser or tighter. It is lightweight and very comfortable to wear. It does not spin around as it is backed with the most luscious blue ultrasuede. It is available in my Etsy Shop.

Mystery Solved!

Like many of my blog friends, I have been experiencing Blogger problems: losing posts and comments, unable to load photos, etc. I solved one problem--that of the lost post. Mine reverted or rather turned into a draft--so you may want to check your dashboard & see if yours is there!

As for not being able to upload photos? Not sure why I could not do it using Internet Explorer, but I had no trouble when I switched to Firefox. I did notice that the upload tool has reverted back to the old style where it just shows the Html and not the actual photo in the box you are typing in. I'm glad because I like this one better! So much easier to rearrange.

Now onto today! The photo above shows the baby blanket I completed last week. Since this couple do not know the sex of their baby, I went with white and yellow. Otherwise, it is actually the same blanket I made in pink a few months ago. It works up really quickly and I really like how it looks finished.

We picked up our daughter last Wednesday--and that all went fine. Glad to have her home again, or will be! Sunday, we drove her to New Jersey to meet up with her roommate who she will visit for a week and attend a concert in Philly. Sometime next weekend they will drive here and attend a concert in NYC together. What a flurry of activity--but we love it!

Hope you all had wonderful creative weekends!

In Honor of Mother's Day...

I am having a FREE shipping sale in my Etsy shop tonight from 5pm to 6 am Sunday Morning. I do not run a free shipping sale very often so this is an excellent time if you have your eye on something in my shop. You must use the code "FreeShip" (without the quotes) which goes live at 5pm.

Happy Shopping! Happy Mother's Day!

Have a Happy Weekend!

Here is my single accomplishment for the week! I am finally getting over the allergies/cold that attacked me with the budding of the trees...Just in time to go to my oil painting class this morning & pick up our order at the home improvement center. I can't believe the college year is over and we will pick our daughter up next week. Thank you all for listening to me ramble on and on about how it was to let our one and only fly out of the nest. I truly appreciate your visits, your ears, and your support.

Wishing you all a happy creative weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!
