Facebook Info

If you use Facebook and have not already adjusted your security setting, you may be interested in the following:

While on Facebook, look at your URL address; if you see http: instead of https: then you don't have a secure session and you can be hacked. Go to Account|Account Settings|Account Security and click Change. Check at least the first setting, FB defaults to the non-secure setting.

"The Social Network" won 3 Oscars last night for Best Adapted Screenplay, Film editing, and Music. I have not seen it yet but probably will in the next week or so.

Have you seen it? What did you think?

Two Lovely Gifts

Today I am sharing two beautiful gifts that I received from two wonderful artists during OWOH. The above is a lovely art card that I won from Anne Gaal. It now has a cherished spot in my art room. It is such a cheery piece and I thank Anne for the lovely inscription on the back. Please stop by and say hello to Anne and see more of her lovely work here. I have used her photo with permission (on her site).

The second gift I received was from Linda Djokic of  lutkaandco. This is her pink rosette Spring bracelet and earring set made with her beautiful lampwork beads. Again, I used her photo with permission because I was afraid I would not do this gorgeous set justice! I am someone who really likes pink--it looks well on me! Thank you Linda for this generous gift. Please stop by her blog & say hello--right now she has a post up about some Croatian jewelry pieces that are amazing!

It is raining pretty hard here today and we expect more through the weekend. Maybe it will get rid of some of the snow! I hope you all have a wonderful creative weekend!

Playing with color

This is my latest ACEO called, "Floral Fantasy". It was inspired by the sunflowers I planted last year. I wanted it to look muted but still colorful. It is a mix of wax & color pencils--no real technique, just experimenting. I like it...I think!

If you can believe it, the wind is still blowing here, although not quite as bad. I woke up again last night to the sound of the siding vibrating on the house--as long as it doesn't blow it right off!

I hope you are all having a sunny, creative day!

A Little Late...

I had hoped to post this much earlier today, but alas, there just were not enough hours.  I have now heard from my three winners, and two of the three angels have already been sent on their way. I hope to get the last one out tomorrow.

Here in the USA this Monday is a holiday so no mail delivery, banks closed, etc. I mention this because my daughter also has the day off. With today being one of her lightest day of classes, she left college early with her roommate to head to the roommate's home for the weekend. They stopped here briefly, had some lunch and then went on their way. Since she left her computer for my husband to troubleshoot, they will also stop here on the way back. Needless to say, I spent the day vacuuming, making a nice lunch, straightening up, and baking Ghiradelli  triple chocolate fudge brownies for her  roommate's Dad as it is his birthday.

So as usual, I want to wish you all a good weekend and I want to give you a little heads up in case you are interested. I will be having a sale in my Etsy shop from 5 pm Saturday night to 6 am Sunday morning EST, in conjunction with the SNS (Saturday Night Specials) Team on Etsy. If you are not familiar with SNS, there are a list of sellers (now formed as a team) that offer some type of sale during these hours. It is fun to browse the list. If you need more information, send me an email or message me via Etsy.

OWOH has ended, but hopefully the friendships made during this wonderful event will last for a long time! A big shout out and thank you to Lisa Swifka for undertaking this huge task once again! And now without further ado, I'd like to announce the winners of 3 angels:

Bonnie from Nanbon44 has won the Earth Angel

I have sent out emails to everyone & they have 3 days to contact me or I will pick another winner.

I want to thank each and every one of you who took the time to stop by my blog. I hope now that all the excitement of OWOH is over that you will stop by for a visit again!

One World One Heart 2011

This post will remain at the top of my blog until the OWOH event is over on February 17. Please scroll down to see new posts!

Hello and Welcome! I am so happy to participate in the One World One Heart  Blog Event that is being hosted by A Whimsical Bohemian. For a full description of the event, simply click above or on the logo on the side bar to read her post. It's primary purpose is not as a blog hop to win physical prizes, but rather a chance to win the gift of friendship! Hundreds of bloggers from all over the world are participating. I participated last year and have made some precious blog friends!

A little bit about me...

My name is Debbie, and I live in New York State with my wonderfully supportive husband, Dennis, and our college age daughter, Christie. I have a passion for seed beads and especially love to create French Beaded Flowers! I have recently discovered bead embroidery which is rapidly becoming another obsession! I also enjoy painting ACEOs, polymer clay, and just about any other type of crafting. My family and I love to travel, & I often share our travel stories here, too. I hope you will look around my blog and stop by again!

As a thank you for visiting, I am giving away three of my Tassel Angels. I will divide the comments into thirds & award three people an angel. The brown one is called "Earth Angel" since her skirt is the rich color of the earth. They are all created with many different ribbons, beads, yarns & fibers. I hang mine on my fireplace & enjoy her all year long.  They would also look great hung on a door handle, cabinet--anyplace you can thing of!  Garden Angel is green & Angel of the Seas is blue.

My giveaway is open worldwide to anyone with an active blog . Here is how to enter:

1)Please leave only one comment per person on this post.

2)Make sure your comment leads back to you, so I can visit your blog, too. Please make sure I will be able to contact you should you win.

3)The winner will be announced on Feb. 17, 2011 on this blog. Please make sure there is a way for me to contact you by email, too!

Thank you for stopping by! I look forward to becoming friends!

The Latest Casualty

About a week ago, my husband & I were watching TV when we heard a loud bang. After looking all over the house we were unable to determine where it came from. Yesterday, I figured it out:
Now I am sure you are saying to yourself how could she not have noticed this? Well, we can't see it from any window & the past few times we have gone out we turned the other way from the driveway. Since we still have at least a foot & a half of snow, this will have to wait for the Spring melt! Luckily, it looks like we can just stand it up again!

Thought I'd end by sharing a few new items from my shop. Enjoy!

A OOAK butterfly made with vintage beads. The royal blue beads have pretty facets, one of which is gold.

A french beaded rose corsage--Dark amethyst edged in pink.

Tropical Beach ACEO

The five purple flowers were created in colors to match an included vase.

Woody Woodpecker!

Our daughter shot this amazing photo of a woodpecker who stopped by for a visit back in January! I could actually hear his beak working on a tree down the street, so I called her to get her camera. As luck would have he, he flew away just as she walked into the kitchen. A moment later I heard him in the back yard , and she got this shot just before he flew off again.

Speaking of daughter...she is all better and thanks you all for your get well wishes. Her computer is 90% back to normal. Unfortunately, it restored itself back to August and she lost everything after that. We have not given up, however, and have send her a drive that has a back up of her files from November. Hopefully, that will help.

I have been enjoying visiting blogs on the OWOH list and have found many that I plan to go back and visit again when the event is over. This is such a wonderful event--I know I would not have come across many of these new blogs by just blog hopping.  To see a list of the participants, click here.

Have  a wonderful weekend!

5 Things...

I can't leave the house without! I was invited to play along by Deb at Ladybug From Texas--you can see her post here.

1)A list--yup, I'm easily distracted by shiny things & I might forget something!

2)A bottle of water.

3)Credit cards--I rarely carry cash.

4)A snack--so I am not tempted by fast food.

5)Cell Phone

Since I know how busy everyone is running around to OWOH right now, I just extend an open invitation to anyone who wants to play along!

Here's Lori's post from Outoftheflames

TGIF!

It was bright & sunny yesterday and there was quite a bit of dripping going on with the icicles...they were beginning to get very pointy....
and very thick, and probably very dangerous now....so these are the last photos before they came down!
You are probably wondering why the title TGIF? Wednesday & yesterday were such frustrating days...Starting Wednesday when we sent our daughter to Health Services only to find out she has Strep Throat! Thank goodness she has a great roommate who went with her, brought her soup, and later drove her to the Pharmacy to pick up antibiotics.  Then 11:45 pm Wednesday night we get a phone call from her that her computer had a major boot error! Well it should just stay inside then!! (I crack myself up!) Seriously after all day on the phone Thursday, my computer whiz of a husband (I say this sincerely) could not fix it remotely so we had to send her the recovery disks (that we forgot to give her when she went to college). Since I had just finished part of her Valentine's Day surprise...
we packed all her Valentine's Day goodies up in a flat rate priority box along with hot chocolate, goldfish, a new toothbrush, and oh yeah, the disks. It should arrive by Saturday, but we are not sure they receive packages in the dorms on Saturdays. She is not a happy camper to be without her computer especially over the weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone! We will be "hiding out" at our friend's house for a superbowl party. Don't really care about the game, but they make the best snacks!

My First Ring

A little while ago, I was lucky enough to receive a free gift card from Artbeads, courtesy of Lisa from Indigo's Beads.  I knew immediately that I would use it to purchase one of Toho's Ring Kits after seeing these on Lynn's site, Beading Heart Art.  I chose the Coral Rose kit and am so glad I did! I really love how it turned out. The directions were very clear and even though I'm not an experienced bead weaver, I was able to complete this in an afternoon. I can definitely see more of these in my future! Thanks, Lisa! Thanks, Lynn!
