My how they've grown!

We got another 12" of snow Wednesday night! When my husband snowplows one lane in our driveway-just enough room to get the car out of the garage--it looks like he is parting the "white sea"! As you can see, our icicles on the back of our house have grown, too. Look at the monster below!
This on is by far the biggest & longest. It has attached itself to the one next to it, and the longest point measures 4 feet 2 inches (about 127 cm)! In a day or two it will probably be below the window level! These icicles are on the back of the house where no one walks this time of year, but the ones on the front of the house? As soon as they start to melt--they are coming Down!

Don't forget to stop back on Sunday, Jan. 30 when One World One Heart starts. If you are not familiar with this worldwide blogging event, click the link in my sidebar to read about it. Have a great weekend!

Look at The Wheat Now!

Remember the wheat I made a while back as a custom order? Well, look at what Melissa did with it....Beautiful!

Can I just mention that it is snowing yet again? We were only supposed to have flurries this morning before the "big" storm tonight, all day tomorrow,
and into Thursday--we already have at least 3" & it is still snowing.

Dear Mother Nature,

Did you have to make it go down to the minus digits again last night? And, did you have to make our pipes freeze for the second time? Really?

I guess we are thankful though that nothing burst. I'm sitting here with the faucet in the bath open waiting for the water to start flowing again so I can take a shower.  I just started hearing sounds...but no water...and now the sound stopped! :(  Fun times.

Awhile back, Lynn from BeadingHeartArt did a tutorial on a certain kind of raised beadwork technique. I recently showed her the piece I made & she encouraged me to go ahead & put it on my blog. Without further ado:

Now it may be hard to tell...but it is a butterfly.  I can see where you might think it is an airplane, but see those curly things at the top? No, they are not headlights, they are antennae! It's a butterfly.  She did a great job on the tutorial & I wanted her to know that I appreciated her time, effort, and generosity!  My daughter really liked this, so I have since added a bead hanger & turned it into a Christmas ornament.  It has secretly gone into her box of ornaments that I have been making & adding to every year!

Happy Friday!

Well, we got another 5 or 6 inches of snow--haven't been out yet, but enough to close schools again. The good news is that the sun is out!!!

This week went by super fast despite the fact that I really can't remember what I've been doing, LOL! No, I'm not getting Alzheimer's--I've just been doing a lot of stuff that is not really blog worthy. I am still committed to adding one new thing to my Etsy shop everyday, trying to reach 75 items and will end this week by showing a few of my latest creations!
A French Beaded Swallowtail Butterfly inspired by a real butterfly called Anise Swallowtail.
This aceo was created for the ACEO Blog Challenge. The inspiration this month is "Fireworks".  I did this with acrylic & dimensional paint. A little outside the box for me since I usually do not paint abstracts.

A pretty snowman cab made by http://papernclay.etsy.com. I beaded around it with various shades of blue & backed it with the most gorgeous leather that I bought at http://beadwright.etsy.com. Of course, I used Nicole's beadbacking, too!

French beaded morning glories in pastel colors. Yes, you may have seen these before; they are one of my best sellers!    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Watch out above!

Not too much going on around here. I thought I would show off the mega icicles hanging from the back side of our house.  They are actually about half the size they originally were. The rain and slightly warmer temperatures have melted them some.

I still would not want to be under them as they are pretty sharp. Three to six more inches coming tonight into tomorrow. I admit I'm getting a little tired of this weather. Yesterday, I ordered a bunch of travel brochures. Maybe for a little artistic inspiration or a summer vacation to look forward to!

Hope you are having a great day!

Back To The Living

Happy Tuesday!  Thank you for all the nice comments wishing us a safe trip when we returned our daughter to college. The sun was out, the roads were clear, and being a Sunday we made excellent time both ways. The only thing I did not anticipate was that after having her home for a month, it was hard to say good-bye again. At least I didn't bawl this time. Is it always going to be this hard?
We had another few inches of snow last night and now it is raining which is, of course, producing pesky ice. It is ok though because we are home safe & don't have to go out! I started on a pink rose arrangement which I can hopefully show you later in the week. Here is a heart grapevine wreath with french beaded Trillium flowers that I just listed...
Very subdued colors of opaque white, sea shell pink & ruby--very romantic!

Hope you are safe & warm wherever you are!

Moose Sighting!

Gotcha! Just my little "Cupid Moose" ACEO dropping by to say hello! He is wearing the latest in cupid sandals & has his quiver of arrows all loaded up!

Well, we are finally down to pavement again! After 15" there is no place else to pile snow! I heard a rumor of flurries for the weekend--I hope that is all it is. Sunday we drive our daughter back to school--in any case we plan to leave early so we can get back home before dark.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Stay warm & keep crafting!

More Valentine's Day Additions!

Here are a few more things just added to the shop for Valentine's Day....
Above is an ACEO created with red & green US postage stamps, with a special heart stamp in the middle. I've collected stamps for years, and this is a perfect way to use some of the more imperfect ones!

Not sure if I showed this before, but this is another glass cabochon created by Linda at papernclay. I beaded around it with Czech fire polish beads & seed beads. It is backed with matching red leather.

Well, the snow totals for today range from 3-5" to 12-20"-- I guess we will just have to wait it out and see! Hope you are staying warm where ever you are!

Boob post revisited...and a big reveal!

Do you remember this post? How could you forget? It is being revisited for a special reason.  After reading all the comments (both agreeing & disagreeing) I came upon Nicole's comment, and we decided it would be fun to each take a boob, er one of the polymer clay pieces and challenge ourselves to see what we could make. So I mailed one to her, and we have now both completed our pieces. Today is the great unveiling ...Oh, yeah, we have not seen each other's pieces either. Sure to be fun! Here is the original post:
I was playing with my polymer clay & made a spiral bead which I got the bright idea to cut in half and see if I could use it as a cabochon & bead around it. After cuting it in half and looking at them both together...well, do you see it? Do they look like a certain female body part to you? Or is my mind in the gutter?
Is it my color selection? I don't think these are going to make it into any project anytime soon! Maybe if I use the two of them, I can make an art doll of some sort. I think I will put them in my "didn't come out quite like I planned" drawer!

And now for the big reveal.....
I decided to make a brooch and added another "unknown" stone.
Thanks to Nicole's excellent instructions in a bead kit she gifted me, I was able to complete the back without any stitches showing!
I am rather pleased with it...What do you think?
Nicole & I have talked about what to do, and I am going to join her in offering my piece in a silent auction format. All proceeds will go to breast cancer research. If you are interested, just send me an email--highest bidder wins!

Now go see Nicole's piece!

Posting on a Saturday!

I know I hardly ever post on a Saturday, but I am so on a roll! I've been listing nearly everyday in my Etsy shop, posting to my facebook fan page , my flickr, and posting here to my blog! I am now up to 58 items in my shop, and if you've had a chance to read a previous post, my goal is 75! There are some Christmas items that will expire soon that I don't plan on renewing, so if there is something you've admired, this is the time to get it! I will give my blog readers 50% any Christmas item...I'd rather it be enjoyed by someone than have to store it. You'll have to look thru the shop for those items. Just purchase & leave a message in notes to seller that you are a blog reader & I'll send a revised paypal invoice.

Thanks for letting me keep up my momentum. I'm off to create more....Stay tuned next week for some fun posts!

It's Snowing...again.

It's been snowing all day here, well on the way to the 5-8" promised. Although it looks pretty, I am becoming less enthused with the snow as the day to drive my daughter back to college gets closer. I still have another week.

Yesterday, I started taking down the Christmas decorations and I finished up today doing the tree and putting everything away. I tried doing some needlefelting today--I'll spare you what my fingers look like! I finally came up with cutting off the finger of a leather glove to use after I had pricked, stabbed & punctured my finger three times. At least the sharp needle doesn't penetrate the leather as easily! After awhile, when my finger was too sore to continue, I switched to quilling...paper doesn't hurt you, LOL! I completed and listed in my Etsy shop the above set for Valentine's Day!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone....Stay safe & warm!

No Rest For The Weary...

Well ok, not really weary, but today was such a busy day! My daughter is trying to get together individually with all her High School friends. She has seen them all together a couple of times, but it seems they need quality one on one time. She is on the third sleepover. I know all her friends for years, so it is very pleasant to have them over--but it is work, too. Tonight was Chicken Piccata!
I've been sleeping late (until 8 am) which is very unusual for me, but I am learning to let my body tell me what it needs. I feel so much better and, I'm also trying to remotivate myself to exercise more. I am working so hard right now to fill up my Etsy shop. My goal is to have 75 items (I'm at 56). I'm also striving to be ahead of the holidays....Just listed today...red roses for Valentine's Day.
Hope you are all having a productive day!
