Inside Every Pumpkin is a Goblin Trying to Get Out!

When I was younger, I was really into the scary, bloody vampire kind of movies. For a long time I read every Stephen King book I could get my hands on. They scared me so much...I am now afraid of the dark, dead animals, lawn mowers, clowns, vintage cars, fortune tellers, and lots of other things. So when Magaly invited me to her All Hallow's Grim Party I really didn't think I could come up with anything appropriate. Have you heard about art just leading you where it wants? This is actually the second time this has happened to me...

I was playing around with some clay & decided to make a Halloween brooch. I made a simple, even sweet looking face as a pumpkin. All he needed was a stem, but, as luck would have it, I didn't have enough green or brown clay. Then I thought, "I'll just smoosh together some black & the remaining orange & use that!" Well, when I did, I came up with a pretty neat looking stem...until I REALLY looked at it. Looks pretty harmless from a distance:
But get close up...do you see the wicked face? Do you see the fangs? That is why I am here. So this year when you go to carve your pumpkin, beware, there may be a goblin lurking inside trying to get out!
As a thanks for visiting my blog, I will use the random number generator and award this piece to one lucky commenter. This giveaway ends October 20th at 9:13am. (Had to change the time because I have an appointment later on in the day)

Oh my gods, this is PERFECT beyond belief. It looks innocent, "even sweet" then it grabs you by the throat and it squeezes.

Stephen King would probably be proud of you and your goblin!

Thanks so much! I'm running to put i on my sidebar. And I can't wait to show my Piano Man and the Little Princess--She is into scary stuff like moi!

At first I only saw what looked like a cute kitty with outstretched arms, until you said about the fangs...now I also see a kind of bug or cave drawing stick figure below the eyes, plus another creature with not quite sweet intentions above the main eyes and pointing. Yeesh. Do you see it too?

That is crazy scary but oh so neat at the same time! I got chills. The brooch turned out wonderful even with the scary part. :)

Hey, October 20th is my birthday, so maybe I can get myself a pretty little gift. :-)
Maybe that's why we light a candle inside the pumpkin: to burn the goblin! *lol*

First, I can't believe that some lucky person can win this gorgeous brooch, let alone the fun of retelling the tale as others get to see the image inside the image up close and personal!

This is a gorgeous brooch and a really fun read. Love what you do with clay. I'm truly impressed.

Debbie I can relate so much to your post, I too read every Stephen King book I could get my hands on, at school we were such dorks that we would sit around in the school grounds at lunch as each girl read a page from Carrie or Rosemary Richardson read chapter after chapter of 'The Exorcist" always worried one of the nuns would sneak up on us LOL! I LOVE your Sweet & Scary pin!! I think I was away when you had your birthday too, so better late than never as they say in the classics...HAPPY BIRTHDAY (from a fellow Libran) hope you had a great day :)
