Itchy, Itchy, Itchy

After itching for a week and treating myself with over the counter and under the counter remedies...I finally decided my poison ivy was not going to go away without help. Mind you, I have never been allergic to poison ivy before--the most I got was two or three little bumps that barely itched and were gone in a day. I won't treat you to the lovely welts I have on the sides of my knees or the ichy spot in the bend of my elbow. Suffice it to say blogger would probably cut me off for showing scary photos!

So this saga actually starts last Friday when I decided to call our Internist who turned out to be away. I went to another Doctor in the group who said "Yes, you have poison ivy" (Ya think?) and tells me to wash it with ice cold water, take Benadryl three times a day (can you say, Zombie?), and apply the "prescription" cream he called into the Pharmacy for me. So off I go to the Pharmacy. You will note prescription is in quotes...that is because when I got there the Pharmacist told me it was over the counter! (Are you kidding me!) What did I just do for a week? Trooper that I am, I bought & followed his advice and itched all weekend.

Today I went to a Dermatologist that my family uses. He called the regimen the other Doctor prescribed wimpy and said it would not cure the rash. He then gave me the stronger medicine & cream that I needed in the first place. Apparently, the poison ivy is now in my system & is spreading from the inside. Moral to the story...go straight to the specialist next time. (Which I hope there isn't one)

If you managed to stay with me while I ranted, thank you. As a reward, here are some pretty french beaded orange lilies that I just finished and put in the shop.
Hope you all had a better weekend than me!

first of all...that sucks! and it's now coming from inside? sounds positively torturous! hopefully the more aggressive approach from the specialist will do the trick. next time, don't play in the poison ivy! 2nd, when i looked at your post in the reader/feeder thing i thought those were real flowers. then i get to the pic inside and see they are beaded. very beautiful!!!

love the lillies...we have had poison ivy numerous times around here..we found the best thing is to use regular rubbing alchol..it dries it up and stops the itching..also was told their is a vitamin E hairspray you can by from any beauty supply...just spray it on...hope it goes away quickly..
