Yesterday, Today & another Giveaway!

Yesterday...

turned out to be a little deceiving since it mostly rained or sleeted all day with little accumulation. This morning we woke up to this:

At least 6" with more to come. The trees looked so pretty!

We are supposed to get about another 6" before the storm finally ends on Sunday morning! At least we have a snow blower! So much of today was spent baking cookies with our daughter. She's 17 and can handle it alone but says it is "Mom-Daughter bonding time!" so how can I argue with that!
Here is the lovely box of scrapbook goodies that I received from Chris at Maple Ridge Vintage.Besides the kit to make a digital hardbound photo album, there was another photo album, a Scrapbooking Made Easy book, and probably hundreds of die cuts & stickers! I'll have fun with these for a long, long time! Thanks, Chris!

Hope you all have a great weekend! Stay warm wherever you are!

Fiber & Trim Goodies!

Here is the fiber & trim package that I received from Jen from Adventures in Mixed Media. She has a neat blog and she makes wonderful ATCs.

Click on the picture & you can see the wonderful fibers, button, & trim. It all came wrapped so nice with fancy paper and a handmade tag card with a pink feather. Had I not been so excited to open the package, I could have showed you that, too! :)

It started snowing early, around 6 a.m., then turned to rain & now it is sleeting very hard. High School just let out and our daughter just go home. I'm thinking school will be canceled tomorrow. The heavy snow is supposed to start midday and go through the night until tomorrow--final totals to be seen!

Hope you are all warm and snug! I'm off to work on a custom order (which I will get around to showing you) and play with my giveaway goodies!

Where is the sun?

It's another dreary, rainy, slushy kind of day here. I find it so hard to get motivated on a day like this. We are supposed to get another 5-8" of snow tonight into Thursday, and depending upon which way the next monster storm turns, it could be as much as 12-24". As I've gone around reading blogs, it seems like this has been a heavy winter for many. I'd just like to see some sun. In the meantime....

These beautiful buttons arrived from Donna at Beadology, My Life & Times. The color and detail is amazing, and they are so very Spring! She makes the most beautiful lamp work beads and buttons and many of her creations she surrounds with silver bezels. Her Etsy shop is filled with her jaw-dropping creations!

I'll be holding onto these beautiful buttons until I can come up with a project worthy of their beauty. Thanks, Donna!

Enjoy your day!

Sunshine on a Snowy Day

The OWOH Giveaways that I won are pouring in! I'm going to show them off one at a time, and there is no better day to feature this beautiful photograph than today! Here in New York it is a snowy, rainy, snowy & rainy kind of day. Not enough for a school delay, but enough to make it messy, miserable & dreary. Even if it is not snowing where you are, this photo will brighten your day & add a drop of sunshine. I guess you want to see it now, huh?

It was gifted to my by the very talented Deb from Ladybug From Texas. Please keep in mind that I am only a passable photographer & it is very difficult to take a photo of a photo. To see this beauty in all its glory, please visit Deb's blog. And while you're there, be sure to wish her and her hubby a happy 27th anniversary!

Oh Happy Day!

I received the first of 7 giveaways that I won thru the OWOH event. I was so happy to take part in this event for the first time and meet so many nice people! I received this book from Diana at Adventuring Through Life. Reading has been a lifelong passion of mine, and I enjoy reading mostly fiction. Casting Spellsby Barbara Bretton is a contemporary romance that takes place in a small New England town & includes a bit of magic and crafts. I can't wait to start it! Thank you, Diana.
Diana's Etsy Shop is called, Sorelle where she sells a variety of beautiful jewelry. If you get a chance stop by and browse. Her "Sky View Necklace" is one of my favorites from her shop:

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

This week has absolutely flown by! I want to take a moment to thank Lisa, aka Whimsical Bohemian, for all her hard work in organizing this event. This was my first year participating, and I was so overwhelmed by the amount of comments I received. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and left such lovely comments. I hope you will visit again. I send out my friendship to all of you. As for me, my blog roll has probably tripled, and I can see I will be spending much more time on the computer as I follow & explore the many new blogs I have found! I also had the pleasure of winning several of the giveaways and will be sharing what I won next week.

Our daughter had no school this week, but we kept very busy. We spent Monday at one of the Colleges she's thinking of attending this Fall, so she could spend the day with an enrolled student, going around campus & to her classes. She ate in a Dining Hall, hung out in the girl's dorm room, went to a Statistics class & in general found it a very worthwhile program.

Tuesday, a 1-3" snowfall was predicted...we got inside a blizzard that dropped 6" on us! My daughter took this pretty photo. Sorry I could not enlarge it as she emailed it to me.

The rest of the week was filled with house cleaning, an 8 hour shopping marathon with our daughter (boy do I have patience!), and today I have a break since she is off on a school trip. Her elite school choir is going to a competition in New Jersey followed by a few hours in a Mall, and then they are going to New York City to see a Broadway Show.

Btw, I made the quilt above for our daughter for Christmas in 1999. I meant it as a cozy cuddly type of quilt--it just fits on top of a twin bed with no overhang. The pattern is call, Friendship Star. If you are not a quilter, you may have a hard time seeing the star. Pick out the red triangle with the white hearts-that is the left arm of a four pointed star with the turquoise square being the middle. See it now?

Wishing you all a nice weekend!

I am so happy to participate in the One World One Heart Giveaway Blog Event that was started by A Whimisical Bohemian in 2007. For a full description of the event, you can check out her blog post, here. Hundreds of bloggers from all over the world are participating. Hop on the magic carpet, go for a blog ride and who knows, you just may meet a new friend or two!

The Blizzard of 2010!

That's what they are calling it! The 12-18" storm this past weekend missed us completely and yesterday's storm that was predicted to be 7-12" gave a mere 4-5"--not that I am complaining! The only glitch was that the switch on our oil burner decided to burn itself out. Fortunately it happened Wednesday night before the storm hit, and our oil company was able to repair it in an hour or so. Today it is very windy and there is a lot of snow blowing around, but at least the sun is shining. So what did I do all day yesterday while snowed in? I beaded this green seahorse suncatcher:

His eye & head fin are dimensional and the rest of him sparkles with alternating rows of metallic and aurora borealis beads. I'm pretty happy with him. Now I am off to go work on my custom order which I hope to have finished by early next week. I know it is only Thursday, but have a wonderful weekend, and don't forget to enter my giveaway above and browse all the great blogs--I've already made some new friends!

I'm 19 years younger!!!

In Wii Fit years, that is! If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you know how much I enjoy exercising on my Wii Fit. This morning I decided to check my Wii Fit age which is based on my real age plus how well I performed certain tests. I may not be losing tons of weight, but I am definitely feeling more toned! Plus, I am now up to 35minutes a day on the elliptical-six days a week! Moving on...

Even though I love love love making french beaded flowers, every once in awhile I have to take a break--especially after making 60! (see this post) I still have one more custom french beaded order to go--for six special brooches, but more about them later!
I designed and beaded this small heart pendant using chunky rose quartz beads & czech glass seed beads. I even beaded the bail! It's just slightly puffy for dimension. I have it in my Etsy shop if you want to read more about it.
Don't forget to enter my giveaway, here. Also stop by and visit all the other shops participating in this fabulous event. You can get there by clicking on the OWOH badge in the sidebar!

Finally Finished!

I have finally finished my custom order and although the pictures may look similar, I assure you...there are 60 french beaded Narcissus all together!

These are on their way to a Bride in Houston who plans to make a bouquet for herself and for her bridesmaids! Her wedding is near the end of March--I think she chose a perfect Spring flower!

Here is what they look like in two vases. I had a blast making these! They consumed most of my time morning, noon and nights for weeks--good thing I have a supportive husband! He did kid me that he was getting a lot of leftovers and pre-made meals out of the freezer! SO not true!

So what are you all doing this weekend--anyone going to Superbowl parties? We usually go locally to a friend's house--he makes the best wings! I'm doing a veggie platter and making some football sugar cookies. As for the game...I really am not that into football and we rarely stay till the end of the game because our daughter gets up at 5:45 am for school...but the food, yum!

Have a great weekend and Stay safe!

Something's Cooking!

And I don't mean just this big pot of gravy! Or "sauce" to the nonItalians out there! In the next few days, I will be able to show you what else has been occupying my time (besides trying to visit most/all of the almost 950 blogs participating!) plus I hope to have some new designs in my Etsy shop.

I am absolutely overwhelmed with all the love my blog has been shown and all the nice words about my beaded rose! Last count I am up to about 139 comments. Therefore...I have decided to add another gift. It will be another yellow rose corsage! Remember, that you must comment (once only) on my original OWOH post, here, to be entered.

Happy Blogging!
