I am so proud of myself!

Taronga Zoo's Wedge Tail Eagle Takes Flight In Sydney
I speak English, French, a smidge of Italian and Spanish, Husband, Teenage Daughter, and a few other obscure "languages"...but I don't speak computer, especially HTML. If I write down the steps to do something after my daughter has showed me for maybe the 10th time, there is a chance I can do it myself. I still don't get facebook although I recently made myself a fan page, and I am still hiding from Twitter. So why am I proud of myself?...

Did you see what post comes up first on my blog? Yup--that's right! My "One World, One Heart" giveaway post! Big deal, you say? Ok, I'll concede that was rather easy to figure out. What I am really proud of is that I was able to tweak the HTML code so that each of the comments on my posts are numbered! Now when my giveaway is over and I use the good old random number generator, I will be able to find the winner easily!Yes, I used a tutorial--so kindly put out by Susie, here. I did save a copy of my original code, not that I'd ever want to go back to the old way, but because it has not yet sunk in that this actually worked!

I feel renewed, rejuvenated, and ready to post again! I'm flying, but not too far from the ground for now!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway, too!

Lily of the Valley

My second custom order was for 2 bunches of Lily of the Valley. This customer saw some that I had on Etsy that had sold, and she decided she wanted some for herself. Lately, I have been getting a lot of custom orders which is great! I think just having my shop as stocked with variety as I can really helps.

The previous custom order--the chrysanthemum a few posts back, came via some listings on Ebay. I used to do really well on Ebay--it has slowed down considerably. I definitely try to use the 5 free listings they give you a month which has paid off since it brought me 1)the chrysanthemum custom order 2)my first sale on Artfire and 3)a potential second custom order from the same customer. Never underestimate the power of just getting your stuff out there!

I am now working (very hard) on my next custom order which is flowers for a wedding--but that is a whole other post!

Have a great day & a wonderful weekend!

Anatomy of a Pizza

As you can see, I did not make it back to post on Monday about my second custom order. I'll get to that another day. The pizza I made Friday night was outstanding if I do say so myself, so I am going to share it here! Here is the recipe I used for the dough (this recipe makes a very generous, thick pizza crust):
1 envelope dry yeast (I used rapid rise)
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 cups sifted flour (I don't sift)
1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese
Your choice of sauce
Oregano, basil, grated cheese

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water & let stand 5 minutes.
In large bowl, dissolve salt in 1 cup warm water, add yeast, & 2 1/2 cups of the flour.
Stir to make a soft dough. Put remaining flour (I reserved some in case it was too much) on board, add dough & knead until it is smooth, elastic & doesn't stick to your hands.
Put in a greased bowl, cover and let rise (I wait a few hours).

Next, I sprinkle corn meal on my pizza stone (flour burns) and stretch the dough to fit. I let it rest 15 minutes or so. Above is the dough up to this point. I brushed on some olive oil with oregano & basil.

Next, I spread the sauce that has been heated up and a couple of cans of mushrooms added to it.

Top with grated cheese, shredded mozzarella (sometimes, I add some shredded cheddar) and we like sliced onions. Bake at 400 degrees until done--approximately 25-40 minutes depending on your oven. I turn my pizza a quarter turn every 10 minutes so it cooks evenly. Peek underneath, the crust should be tan & crispy. And...voila! Enjoy!

It's really not that hard--hope you'll try it!

This week certainly flew by! It seems like I either have nothing to do or too much to do! I received 3 custom orders that have been keeping me busy. If they were the only thing I had to do, it would be fine--I work very well under pressure and deadlines! But, I also need to cook, as my family reminds me, and put away the Christmas decorations and clean! Inaddition to all that, my husband needed a Stress Test which took a bit over 2 hours and a follow-up Dr. visit to get the results--all is fine I am happy to say.

The photo shows a custom order for a yellow Chrysanthemum that was needed fairly quickly. Apparently, the buyer's daughter had a project in school & she "is" a Chrysanthemum. Fortunately, I was able to make it up right away & get it to her--hope she loves it!

I finished taking all the Christmas decorations downstairs & put everything away & reset up the Living Room as it was pre-Christmas. It always looks a bit barren to me after we take the decorations down.

Tonight, I am making homemade pizza--dough and all as a treat.Hope you all have a great weekend--I'll be back Monday with some photos of custom order #2.

If you love Ringo....

and/or Paul McCartney..here's the song they did together "Walk With You" on Ringo's new album, "Y Not" coming out January 12, 2010.

I also heard that Ringo is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010--Go Ringo!

Btw, isn't it amazing how albums are leaked weeks before they actually hit the stores?!
