Beautiful weekend!

Friday night was our daughter's Junior Prom. I didn't go to my oil painting class Friday afternoon because there was a ton of stuff to be done. Above is a photo of her just leaving the house. She absolutely fell in love with this eggplant colored Calvin Klein dress in Macy's. We had to order it in a smaller size & I still had to take it in for her. The top is all sequins with a fitted midriff & a flowing skirt. It was also lined--so I had double the hem work to do! It came with a jacket with long stole pieces which I cut off. With the fabric that was left over from the jacket, I made her a matching clutch! I also made silk flowers for her hair.

So we left to meet at another friend's house with 11 others who were going in her limo. Needless to say, there was much photo-taking, giggling, and some bewildered looks from the guys before they took off for the Prom.

After the actual Prom, they all went back to yet another friend's house to change & be driven to the High School for the post prom party. This is something our school does every year to provide continued fun for the kids in a safe environment. We heard from her several times during the evening before she returned with the group to sleep at a friend's. Saturday afternoon they had a barbeque and played some lawn games & basically just chilled out. Of course, after that & much of Sunday she was wiped out!

Thanks for letting me share!

Another Brooch Finished

I probably won't get a chance tomorrow to wish you all a nice weekend. Tomorrow night is our daughter's Junior Prom. Needless to say, there will be endless things to do. I hope to post some photos on Monday, though.

Have a good one!

Rain makes me feel like singing!

It rained so hard last night, it kept waking me up! Even though today is grey & we may still have a shower lingering around...I can already see the buds on the trees & hear the birds singing. Did nature ever make you heart feel like singing?

They don't make them like this anymore. Oh, and by the way...did you know that the rain in this shot was actually more milk than rain? I first learned this on a tour at Disney MGM Studios. It showed up better on the camera. Also, Gene Kelly did this in ONE take with 103 degree fever. What a trooper! Enjoy!

The Equalizer!

"Once the game is over, the King and the pawn go back in the same box."

Italian Proverb

What a great quote & so very true! It doesn't matter who you are, how rich you are, or how much power you have...in the end...we are all the same!

Custom Order Finished!

Our family had a very nice Easter. My father came to spend the day with us, and he, who has just turned 83, had fun playing Wii Golf with his granddaughter (16). We had a nice dinner of ham, sweet potato casserole & veggies. It was a huge ham so besides sending him home with a bunch, I'm making split peas soup tonight. Later on we went to visit nearby friends whose daughter & son-in-law were there with their one-month old. I had forgotten what holding a tiny one feels like!

I finally finished the custom order for rose corsages that I spoke about in previous posts. Just as I was finishing up the sixth one, my customer ordered 6 more in a smaller size. I was pleased with hos they turned out and can't wait to hear some feedback from her. The colors were, of course, to her specification.

Now, I am working on the "flower of the month" for April for my Etsy shop. I'll post some pictures when I am done.

Hope you all had a lovely Easter or Passover season.

Rain yet again today!

It's another rainy day here in Upstate NY-Oh are these the April Showers they sing about? We were supposed to go to Rhode Island today to take a look at a college our daughter is interested in but changed our mind when we heard heavy rain & thunderstorms for this afternoon. My DH thinks it is pretty useless to visit colleges anyway, after all, what do you really learn? The talks are all pretty much the same, the campuses are in general very pretty, and the classrooms are, well, classrooms. Still it is what "everyone" does and if you don't, you are somehow not giving your kid the best shot at picking what they want and what you are going to be paying for! Sorry for the rant--the weather drags me down and last Wednesday I got the unhappy-yet not totally unexpected news that I need surgery. Things are so busy right now...I'm planning the end of June. But on to happier things...

Daisies are the flower of the month of April! I'm always looking for different ways to showcase my french beaded flowers. I chose to weave a swag through a fence I painted, and then added some butterflies. Different, bold, and just perfect for a window sill or bookshelf!

Have a happy Monday!

Now I know Spring is Here!

Even though the day is gray, and the sky looks ready to let loose with rain...I know Spring has finally arrived when I hear the sweet song of Cardinals filling the air!

It helps that at 9:30 am it is 54 degrees, too!

Have a wonderful weekend!
